Don R. Wagg,

Don Raymond Wagg passed away at the age of 69 in Alameda California.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Abigail Wagg, and his three children – Bruce Wagg, Dawn Martinez, Forest Wagg and five grandchildren.

His mother, Mary Wagg of Port Huron, Michigan, survives him.  Also residing in Port Huron are his two sisters, Karen Molesworth, and Carci Sue McCabe.  An additional sister, Connie Siebert resides in Florida, and his brother, Vincent Wagg lives in Albany, California.

All his friends and family will sorely miss Don’s vitality, kindness, and dedication to others.

Don was born in Port Huron, Michigan and received a Bachelor’s degree in English from the California State University at Hayward.  He established two highly successful businesses.  For more than 35 years, he owned and operated Park-Tilden Movers, a highly rated moving and delivery company.  Upon retirement, his interest in woodworking caused him to develop a part time refinishing firm called Regency Restoration Service.  He worked with stores, interior designers and private customers to refurbish and restore antique furniture.

He was a Korean War era Marine and devoted more than twenty years each to the Oakland, California Police Reserve unit and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He left his mark on both organizations.

After many years as an Oakland reserve police officer, he was retired as a sergeant.  He was instrumental in developing the use of an Oakland Police boat, and spent his last three years of service securing Oakland’s Waterways on weekly patrols.

Don was also an avid boater and spent almost two decades on safely patrol on San Francisco Bay as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Additionally, he taught safe boating and ultimately rose to the rank of Vice Commodore in the Eleventh Northern Coast Guard District.

He especially enjoyed his role as a motion picture extra, and was a member of the San Francisco Screen Actor’s Guild.  He appeared in many movies and television series.

Memorial services will be held, for Don Wagg, on Coast Guard Island, Alameda, California at 0900, on December the 14th, 2003.  All friends, family and members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary are welcome.
