WHO WE ARE


We're the swimteam of the Southern Saratoga County YMCA, made up of swimmers from ages 6 to 18, along with a talented, dedicated coaching staff and a strongly supportive parents' organization.

OUR HISTORY

We started in 1994, when the Southern Saratoga Y was first constructed in Clifton Park, New York. Since our birth, we've been a large team, generally with over 100 swimmers.

OUR LEAGUES

The Barracudas compete in two fields:

star-shaped list bullet
The North Country YMCA League (formerly the Berkshire-Hudson League), primarily made up of YMCA swim teams in the Capital Region (NY)--Pittsfield (MA) area and extending to Plattsburgh, near the Canadian border.

The Barracudas have won the North Country YMCA League championships every year since our beginning in 1994.

In addition, in the New York State YMCA Championships, we've won:

OUR PURPOSE & PHILOSOPHY

The mission of the Barracudas is to provide a program and environment that will help our children grow physically, mentally, and morally.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

star-shaped list bullet  Educate each swimmer about the sport of swimming to ensure that she or he develops a love for the sport and continues swimming for years to come.

OUR PARENT COMMITTEE

Youth teams depend on parental support in order to function; our Parents' Committee functions to coordinate that support and to act as a liaison between the parents and the Y.
