Featherstone Music Instructional Inc. was established in 1987 to provide music education in the Baltimore community to children of all ages regardless of race, religion, economic, or social background with concentration on children living in the urban community. Featherstone Music Inc. was established in 1992 as a Recording company (Clean Music Records, CMR). Thus FSM Instructional teaches those with no or *minimal training in private piano, music theory and instrumental music. Where as Featherstone Music Inc. works with professional musicians and signs them to a recording contract to produce compact discs, cassette tapes and develops promotional packages. The activities of both FSM Instructional Inc. and Featherstone Music Inc. are included in a chart with three columns so that it is very clear the division between the divisions. * minimal training would constitute that which has not achieved a professional level.

Tegra Y. Featherstone, mother of four, founded FSM Instructional in 1987. She is certified by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), in grades initial through 7 in both practice piano and music theory, and certified by Trinity College London (TCL) in practical piano grade 7. Mrs. Featherstone is currently working toward her Liciente (Masters) from TCL in classical piano. She developed the "Bach to Blues" program that teaches both classical and jazz formats simultaneously from the beginner level. Mrs. Featherstone was instrumental in forming Clean Music Records (CMR), an Independent Jazz Record label, with her husband, Lurenda Featherstone, in 1992. She attained national distribution, promotion and developed marketing for the label. She has also co-produced two (2) CD productions for CMR and engineered one of these productions. In addition, Mrs. Featherstone has worked on artist development and management consultanting for Round Table Management Group, a division of CMR.
