Report from the Deacons 2007

The Holy Spirit has been with us this year and has blessed us in working together as a team. We pray regularly for the families of our congregation and for our college students through prayer and email. We continue to visit our shut-ins. Our corresponding secretary has sent flowers and cards to those who were ill or had a family death.

Each month the Deacons have prepared and cleaned up after Holy Communion. The Deacons take turns serving communion during the year. Flowers left for the Deacons after the service are given to members of our church who are ill or who deserve special recognition for their gifts and services to the church.

We have been blessed in being able to bless others. At Easter we were able to give food baskets away to families in need. Again at Thanksgiving we provided a wonderful meal with turkey to over 30 families. All this was possible because of the loving support of our wonderful congregation.

At Christmas we worked with Faith in Action and Kiwanis of the Islips and Bay Shore in giving more than 200 wrapped toys and gifts away to children who would not otherwise have recieved a Christmas gift. On December 16, we worked with other volunteers in wrapping and distributing gifts. Everyone present had a good time and felt the true meaning of Christmas.
