The Lamplighter is the monthly newsletter of the Presbyterian Church of Islip. Its primary function is to inform the congregation of the ongoing work, special projects, upcoming events, needs of and opportunities to serve within many organizations and groups of the church, as well as the Boards of Session and Deacons. This monthly newsletter also contains prayer and praise concerns, miscellaneous personal articles about the church family, educational pieces, seasonal material, and regular columns by the Pastor, as well as various selected pieces of humor and inspiration.

The Lamplighter consists of an editorial board of three who write and edit the newsletter. The office administrator formats and prints the newsletter, and volunteers from the congregation organize, fold and prepare it for mailing. Material comes from committee, board and organizational heads, the Pastor, the editors, and members and friends of the congregation.

Articles must be recieved by the editors no later than the 3rd Sunday of each month, by 12:00 Noon. All articles should be font 12 or more, double-spaced, and include a contact name and telephone number. Hard copies should be placed in the Lamplighter mailbox in the Parish House or given to an editor. If possible, they should also be mailed to the church or handed in on a disc as well as a hard copy.
