Marriage Guidelines For The Presbyterian Church of Islip

The Presbyterian Church of Islip receives many requests to allow wedding services to take place within our sanctuary. Our sanctuary is a blessing to us at the church, and we wish it to be a blessing to all who enter. However, the Presbyterian Church of Islip does not wish our sanctuary, where we worship All Mighty, All Powerful and All Holy God to simply become a wedding chapel. To that end, the leadership of our church has decided to set the following minimum standards for a wedding service to take place in our house of worship.

Any couple desiring to be married at the Presbyterian Church of Islip must attend 6 services at the Presbyterian Church of Islip prior to their wedding day.

Any couple wishing to be married at the Presbyterian Church of Islip must attend 3

marriage counseling sessions led by Pastor David. These must be taken seriously; any

homework given must be completed.

Any wedding ceremony service held at the Presbyterian Church of Islip must be reviewed and approved by the session of the church.

Pastor David must be part of the service, and his time has to be compensated.

The counseling sessions are to be held at a time acceptable to both the couple and the pastor. It is our deep desire to create healthy marriages; marriages that glorify God and where both persons assist the other in becoming better followers of Jesus Christ.
