These musical selections have purposefully been selected for each part of the service and shall not be changed. The wedding couple may choose to eliminate one or all music selections provided by the organist, and instead choose to bring in outside musicians (pianist, harpist, flautist, string quartet, etc.) however this will not reduce the organist's fee. Any special music (maximum 2 songs) must be received two weeks prior to the wedding service in sheet music, cassette tape, or CD form - which ever is applicable. If you have your own soloist, the organist needs to know in advance to set up rehearsal time. If you want us to provide a soloist, we will do so based on availability.
A microphone will be available for the pastor for the wedding service. There is a microphone at the pulpit for the reader. A stand microphone will be available for a vocal soloist. You will need to supply a device for cassette tape or CD accompaniment.
LICENSE The marriage license application needs to be obtained from a town or city hall office, anywhere in New York State. The telephone number of the Islip Town Clerk's office is (631) 224-5490. Please deliver the marriage license to the church office one week prior to the wedding date.
THE REHEARSAL Please be on time! Frequently the pastor or the organist has other commitments after a wedding rehearsal. The organist will open and close the church building and accompany the rehearsal. The rehearsal is one hour so please plan ahead. The crucial people in a wedding are the bride and groom. Once they have arrived at the church and it's time for the rehearsal to begin, we will do so. Latecomers can be filled in at a later date. (Should the rehearsal exceed the time allotted, the wedding couple will be charged an additional $25 per quarter of an hour mark for each staff member present.)
THE WEDDING DAY On the wedding day the sexton opens the church one hour before the ceremony. Please notify your florist, or anybody else who needs to know.
The pastor and organist arrive at the church thirty minutes before the wedding.
Do not use tape to fasten decorative bows on the pews, instead fasten them on the pews with rubber bands. (Tape lifts the paint off the pew.)
Rose petals or bubbles may be used following the ceremony.
No food or drink is permitted in the sanctuary.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office manager, Jennifer Weick. If you would like to send and e-mail the address is pcislip@verizon.net .
