The Web Site Accessibility Symbol

Web site accessibility refers to a voluntary set of standards developed by the TRACE Research and Development Center, the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, and the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services. VESID's Capital District Office web site will be evolving over time. We desire to make our web site as useful as possible to the community and we will strive to meet accessibility standards. At the present time, this web site uses descriptive text, links to other sites on the Internet, and some graphic images. If your browser is not set up to read graphics, this in no way affects the useability of the site as all images are captioned and none are necessary for use of the site.

For more information regarding these standards and an explanation of the web site accessibility symbol, please use the following link to TRACE - www.trace.wisc.edu/keyhole.html

The "Bobby Approved" Symbol

Founded in 1984, the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) is an educational, not-for-profit organization that uses technology to expand opportunities for all people, including those with disabilities.

"Bobby" is a web-based public service offered by CAST that analyzes web pages for their accessibility to people with disabilities as well as their compatibility with various browsers. The analysis of accessibility is based on the working draft of the W3C's WAI Page Author guidelines. We are very proud that our VESID website meets the "Bobby" seal of approval!

For more information about CAST and downloading the "Bobby" software please use the following link to CAST - Center for Applied Special Technology
