The Capital District Office of VESID serves a nine-county area surrounding the city of Albany and the Capital District. Our service area includes the counties of Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington. Altogether this is an area of 5,823 square miles and includes urban, suburban, and rural environments. The total population of our catchment area is 1,035,703. Based on the last census, it was estimated that 48,709 individuals in our area have a disability that presents an impediment to employment.
District Office Says "Farewell" to Anne Sternbach! January 2008: Anne Sternbach has accepted a promotional opportunity to VESID Central Office where she will be working with the Quality Assurance unit. Anne has worked in our district office as a counselor and she covered caseloads in several different counties during her tenure. Good luck, Anne!
District Office Welcomes New Staff! January 2008: Benjamin Kahn Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, comes to our staff as a transfer from VESID Central Office. Ben will be working with our Employment Services Team and assisting with our caseload for the deaf and hard of hearing. Lisa Williams has joined our staff as a Keyboard Specialist. She will be working with "ACT 4", our Adult Career Team serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties.
District Office Welcomes Stephen Novacich as our new Regional Coordinator! December 2007: Stephen Novacich has been promoted to the position of Regional Coordinator filling the position that David Segalla vacated in March 2007. Steve will have oversight and administrative responsibilities for three district offices in eastern New York State. Steve brings many years of experience to the position and he has been a counselor, senior counselor and district office manager for VESID. Steve will be stationed at his district office in Malone. Welcome aboard, Steve!
District Office Announces Promotions and New Staff! September 2007: Jessica Bakerian has been promoted to the position of Clerk 2. She will continue to work with our finance unit. Alexis Merrill has been appointed to the position of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. She will be working with our Transition Services Team. Michelle Dybas has been appointed to the position of Keyboard Specialist. She will be working with our Adult Career Service teams. Robert Kranick has been appointed to the position of Keyboard Specialist. He will be working with our Employment Services Team and our Orientation and Eligibility function.
District Office Says "Goodbye" to Brenda Rotolo-Souky! August 2007: Brenda Rotolo-Souky has accepted a promontion at VESID Central Office where she will be working as a statewide coordinator for staff training programs. Brenda had been our district office Rehabiliation Counselor for the Deaf.
VESID District Office Announces Promotions and New Staff! January 2007: Monica Toye-Smith - Monica has accepted a promotion to a Senior Counselor position with the VESID Central Office. She will be working with VESID's statewide quality division and handling consumer service inquiries. We will miss Monica, but we wish her the best in her new position. Jonathan Penna - Jonathan is a graduate of the Rehabilitation Counseling Masters degree program at the University of Albany. Currently in training at the district office, he will be working with consumers from Columbia County on one of our adult services teams.
